I started drawing from kindergarten. I think it was the influence of my grandfather, who was a painter.
I drew many characters from famous anime when I was in elementary and middle school.
I also imitated manga. Though it wasn’t really like practicing…
I imitated beautiful manga characters such as D. Gray-man quite a lot.
When I was a high school student, I started to think that I wanted to do something in life that I like. And so, I started to draw for real.
I always preferred drawing over playing outside. I knew that drawing is “what I loved to do”.
It really encouraged me when I was awarded grand prize at Tablet de Art Contest, co-sponsored by Wacom, during my time at art school.
My first sokubaikai (art exhibition and sales event) experience was at COMITIA in February, 2014.
I was familiar with sokubaikai since my friends participated a lot and I felt like attending it once.
But I was not prepared to see such a great number of people who attended.
And I was astonished to know that there are people who come to view and purchase artists’ work.
… but I didn’t have the confidence for that.
I would like to participate in the events like these more actively.
Even though I can’t see their faces on the internet, I’m really happy to hear people tell me directly how much they like my drawings.
It really helps me imagine how my fans look at my works and it strengthened my motivation and I could feel confidence in myself.
I love the works of Hoden Eizo. They are delicate, fragile and not so flashy.
I also pay attention to the works of okama-san, as well the character designer D.K-san from NieR Gestalt / Replicant.
I would like to draw cute and attractive girls all the time.
Hopefully I can make a living through my artwork as it is.
Interviewed month：April, 2014
emke-san is a nice, humble dude. Now in April, 2014, he is working on his next project based on a story. His next collection will feature this project as well.
He has already signed up for Summer Comic Market 86. For those who haven’t seen it yet, you should check out the previous works as well.
The sokubaikai he attends are Comic Market and COMITIA.
